  • Provides general operational direction regarding the various aspects and activities of the finance function.
  • Contributes to overall strategy development and implementation.
  • Articulates mission, vision, objectives and KPIs for the Finance Department in line with overall business plans and overall strategic objectives.
  • Oversees the development of adequate policies, procedures and processes for the Finance function to maintain efficient operational excellence in order to achieve overall strategic objectives.
  • Develops the finance and investment strategies, business plans, budgets and resources in accordance with overall strategy and direction.
  • Recommends on the agreements, projects and opportunities entered into and defines cash flow required.
  • Manages the operations of the treasury, financial planning, budgeting and accounting so as to encourage optimum utilization of its services by the entire organization.
  • Contributes to the achievement of the companies objectives through timely and effective financial counseling to the CEO.
  • Monitors the BUs’ finance and accounting activities and review reports, budgets, and financial statements to ensure compliance and adherence to corporate financial policies.
  • Monitors internal borrowing and financial risks (e.g. interest rate and exchange rate), and coordinate with Risk Management function, as applicable.
  • Advises on financial impact of re-structuring or expanding an existing BU or development of new capability.
  • Takes the lead in dealing with banks and financial institutions, identifying and appointing lead advisors for direct borrowing and equity and/or debt rising via private placements and/or public offerings.
  • Oversees and directs the preparation and issuance of periodic financial reports.
  • Directs adequate systems of internal control to ensure accuracy and adequacy of accounting records and documentation, including appropriate procedures, manuals and accounting standard practice instructions locally and internationally.
  • Monitors the cash, debt and liquidity position of corporate and BUs.
  • Serves as the principal contact with external audit firms, and ensures that they are provided close cooperation and assistance in the discharge of their responsibilities, including primarily the certification of financial statements.
  • Consults the CEO with regards to financial targets and issues.
  • Advises on the financial implications of management decisions and establishes the financial soundness of proposed investments of businesses.
  • Develops executive summaries and presentations to communicate overall financial performance to top management.
  • Establishes and maintains long term relationships with financial institutions.
  • Participates in hiring key departments leadership positions.
  • Communicates and discusses the function’s guidelines and procedures with employees to ensure responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities are defined and understood.
  • Provides guidance, support, leadership and management to the Finance function employees to ensure effective and efficient flow of work, and ensures that all employees recognize their fundamental roles to achieve overall organizational objectives.
  • Conducts annual performance appraisal to review employees’ performance, carries out disciplinary meetings when needed, recommends salary adjustments, rewards and promotions based on employee performance results.
  • Monitors the adherence of Finance function employees to the company’s guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Ensures effective departmental performance through the selection, development, deployment and motivation of competent staff.
